Friday the 13th! June 2014

This really is our lucky day.  Bob was discharged from the army on Friday the 13th, in November 1970.

Well, the mattress topper does not fit the bed!  We did research and the store we bought it at has another size but it will not fit either.  We found a complete memory foam mattress that will fit the bed, but not sure we want to buy it.  Dad did talk with Brother Atkins, the temple recorder, and he said he would see what they can do to get us memory foam mattresses like the ones in the accommodations centre.  I hope something can be done as my neck has gotten out of whack since sleeping on this bed.
King size doesn't seem to be king size!

There was another youth group in for baptisms.  The session went well and Sister Smith was with us again to assist.  She has been happy to work in the baptistry since this has been her first opportunity to do so.  The group brought family file names from various ward members, enough for all but two youth.  We were busy the whole time and even got the laundry in the washers and turned on.

There has been a brother from the temple department in Salt Lake, here in the temple all week with President Johnson and his counselors and matrons.  In preparation meeting President Johnson shared with us some parts of their meetings, discussions, and observations:
1.  When challenges occur with patrons or workers, look at them as opportunities; opportunities to assist, to help, or to improve.
2.  The temple experience is for the patron.  We are to do all we can for them to have a wonderful experience and feel the spirit.  We are to not detract in any way.
3.  As workers, we are to focus on improving our abilities, learning a better way and progressing in that direction.

He said that when he was first called as temple president last fall, he began with the temple handbook, reading it in connection with how the temple was functioning.  There were a couple of areas he could not find in the handbook.  He looked and read and searched many times to find them, but they were just not there.  He wondered how he could instigate the changes.  This week provided this opportunity as he met with the temple representative in discussion.  He let us know of the two areas and that the changes were immediately effective.  He told of some things he has been doing incorrectly and will make the necessary changes.  We are blessed to have him as the president.

Things we are missing from home:
