Fast Sunday, 3 August 2014

It was a beautiful day - pleasant breeze, very very nice temperature, blue skies, and skittering clouds. We went to church and enjoyed the meetings.  For the afternoon, I did family history and made a chicken and rice casserole for the potluck and "hi" this evening.

We joined everyone at 5 p.m. at the Accommodations Centre for the potluck.  Oh my, what a table of food from various cultures and countries come to these.  We had snacks from India (Don't ask what they are because I do not know), sweet rice cakes from Belgium, and a hot pasta dish with fresh pineapple in it from Belgium that was absolutely delicious.  The dessert table was loaded as well.  We all enjoyed the variety of food and the good association with one another.

The "hi's" were from Sister Clark, Sister Bustemante, Elder & Sister Blake, and Elder & Sister Vowels.  They are all from the temple district and a great asset for the temple.  The overall plan is for the saints here to be able to maintain their temple.

Sister Clark has been here one month and is so happy that she has extended her mission three months.

The Vowels are on their third mission; the first to Kenya, the second to the temple here, and now back to the temple.  They said they are here for their daughter who is inactive and struggling with a failed marriage and other problems.  They went on their first mission when they heard the council in general conference that if senior couples would come and serve, their families would be looked after.  By faith, they knew they needed to go.  By the time they returned, their wayward son had begun to return to the church and now enjoys full activity and living a clean and wholesome life.  This time they say it is not by faith they have come, but by knowledge.  They know the Lord will bless their family because of their service.  They sold their home, he re-arranged his work, and here they are, happy to serve.

The choir rehearsed for the last time.  We did well and are ready for next Sunday.  Dad and I continue to work on our song and I rehearsed with Sister Smith, too.

We enjoyed FaceTime with Jeanna and Kendal.  They and their families are well.  We had delightful conversations.
